sarah_georgeJoin us for our undergraduate seminar as Dr. Sarah George, Executive Director, Adjust Associate Professor at Natural History Museum of Utah and Department of Biology, presents her talk on, “Decisions behind the Design: Creating the New Natural History Museum of Utah.” The lecture will take place on Tuesday, October 7th from 10:45-11:35am in WEB L104.

Abstract
The Rio Tinto Center, the new home for the Natural History Museum of Utah, opened to the public in late 2011, and since then, has won 28 regional, national, and international awards for architecture, construction materials and engineering, exhibit design, electronic media, and public art. Attendance has exceeded projections, and new programs continue to be developed in the galleries and public spaces of the building. A broad coalition was engaged to develop the integrated design of the building, exhibits, and landscape. Who was consulted? What was their inspiration? What factors were considered in the design and construction? What was the process? What has worked and what hasn’t?
