Leslie Bates Sparnicht is a Department of Chemical Engineering Career Coach with U Career Success. Leslie’s “why” is to help students understand their unique talents so they can make positive impacts on the organizations they want to work for. When working together, Leslie encourages students to map their career journeys based on their own “whys”. She specializes in resume writing, practicing job interviews, and pointing out networking opportunities. She also is an expert in job search strategies and successful communication with potential employers.

After receiving a master’s degree in Organizational Behavior at BYU, Leslie moved across the country to Stanford, Connecticut to work for General Electric. In  their Human Resources Leadership Program, she learned how to recruit, hire, and coach people toward successful work performance. Throughout her own career journey, Leslie has worked in various organizations including the 2002 Winter Olympics, Intermountain Healthcare, Extra Space Storage, and 3 university career services departments. With that range of experience and expertise in professional development, Leslie is well-positioned to help chemical engineering students achieve their career goals.

My Career Coaching focuses on helping students understand their strengths and communicating their talents and interests to a variety of employers. I strive to help students build their confidence in themselves to apply to their dream jobs and internships.

Leslie has embarked on creating a tiny, cut flower farm that cultivates zinnias, cosmos, sweet peas, and fever few. Leslie will say that the sweet peas are a struggle to grow! Leslie fly fishes out on rivers in beautiful settings – especially the Upper Provo in Midway. Leslie learned to fly fish with her dad and has a lot of amazing memories of fishing with him.
