Congratulations to University of Utah chemical engineering graduate Colin Young, who received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) 35 Under 35 Award.
This national award is given to 35 individuals each year for their “outstanding achievement and contributions of some of the best and brightest young chemical engineers in our field.”
Young graduated from the U with a bachelor’s in chemical engineering in 2012 and received a prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for doctoral study. Young completed his Ph.D. in chemical engineering at the University of Utah in 2018. Following graduation, he was a research scientist for the Huntsman Cancer Institute and is now a Variant Assessment Scientist for Ambry Genetics, a biotechnology company headquartered in California.
During his time at the U, he served on the Young Professionals Committee for AIChE and was a National Science Foundation outreach team leader where he led mentors who organized outreach events and presentations for high school students.
