Abstract
The use of directional drilling and hydraulic fracturing in shale formations containing gas and oil has led to unprecedented increases in the recoverable gas and oil reserves in the United States and the world. The abundance of natural gas and the low cost of extraction is now being called the Golden Age of Natural Gas. Along with increasing renewable energies, natural gas is recognized as the most important energy, the fastest growing in terms of total energy increase per year. How does the natural gas industry work? What does it take to move gas from the wellhead to the burner tip? Where does a chemical engineer fit it? The presenter will answer these questions.
