Duties and Responsibilities
Apply Federal codes associated with designing and operating natural gas pipelines; analyze and interpret field data; assist, with supervision, the analysis, evaluation of performance, and design activities related to the planning, construction, modification, and operation of processing, transmission, storage and related facilities, systems and services; perform analysis of transmission, storage or processing system or facility capabilities, economic justification, cost estimates and feasibility studies; provide limited engineering and technical support to other departments; provide cost estimates and coordinate minor projects; gather, compile and analyze information and data used in engineering tasks; and perform other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions
Requires prolonged use of a computer keyboard. May require: working unscheduled overtime and weekends and/or holidays to complete projects or meet deadlines; travel to field sites in both on- and off-road conditions; and overnight and out-of-town travel, sometimes with short notice. May be exposed to: high-voltage electricity; and chemicals, including, but not limited to, flammable gases and liquids, toxins, pesticides, corrosives, and petroleum products.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of: engineering principles and practices; and personal computers, mainframe computer systems and related software.
- Skill in: relating interpersonally.
- Ability to: see objects at close range; understand and respond to written and oral instructions; communicate effectively orally and in writing; gather, research, analyze data and prepare financial, statistical or analytical studies and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of grammar and punctuation; respond to emergency conditions while traveling (i.e., changing flat tires; chaining up vehicles; operating jacks and performing minor maintenance); operate a two-way radio; contribute to a positive work environment; be courteous to co-workers and customers; follow directions from supervisors; and refrain from abusive or profane language and behavior in the workplace.
- Requirements: regular attendance; must be pursuing (completed junior year) a bachelor of science degree in mechanical, chemical, or civil engineering or a master’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; undergo random drug and/or alcohol testing with satisfactory results subject to DOT and company requirements; a valid driver’s license; an acceptable driving record; and adherence to FERC Standards of Conduct and all company policies, including the Questar Corporation Business Ethics and Compliance Policy.
